MEDIA BIAS

This is Fox News' earliest take (that I could find), on Hillary Clinton's announcement. Of course it wasn't much of a surprise, as I'm sure they've been anticipating this announcement for some time. There didn't seem to be much bias coming from this conservative side. It came across as more of a general analysis for the campaign down the road.

For the sake of finding a clip that was bias I found this Fox News clip from a couple days ago. This clip is very personal and clearly biased...

It's odd to me how visibly upset this person gets at the thought of Hillary Clinton being President. It's almost as if she's upset because she wants to be the first female President instead of Hillary. She says she would like to see a female President, but just not Clinton.

Here is some left leaning coverage of Hillary Clinton...

I've found this clip, and many others like it to be rather hard-hitting on Clinton. I think it may have something to do with her overall popularity, and perception of inevitability from the Democratic side, which could frustrate Democrats.

I remember very similar things were happening on Fox News during the 2012 Republican Primary about Mitt Romney. During that Primary Fox News would hammer Romney as hard as any news station, because he was the front-runner. As soon as he won the Primary, Fox News did a 180 in total support of him. I think you could expect the same sort of thing from the liberal media stations if Hillary Clinton does win the Democratic Primary.

I think Clinton can probably anticipate getting the business from both sides until it gets late in the game. Now that she's announced, negative takes from the media are probably just going to get worse.

  1. How should Hillary handle the negative attacks that are presented by the media?

  2. I think she's been through this enough to not really let it get to her. I think she'll do okay with negative media.

  3. Do you think Hillary and Bill's relationship will effect her image in this campaign?

  4. Surprisingly I do think it will. At first I didn't think it would. I thought we learned from the Bill Clinton impeachment to leave people's personal lives/relationships out of politics, but I've already heard a lot of criticism of her for still being married to Bill. I think it's silly to criticize someone for not getting a divorce. That's a decision only that individual can make.
